Angel LAII Ortiz

Biography
Angel Ortiz, known as LA II (“Little Angel”), emerged from Manhattan’s Lower East Side to become a key figure in street art’s rise to global prominence. Born in 1967, Ortiz gained recognition in the early 1980s through his collaborations with Keith Haring, blending his intricate, calligraphic patterns with Haring’s bold lines. Their partnership produced iconic murals, sculptures, and train paintings, with Ortiz’s style profoundly shaping Haring’s solo work.
In addition to Haring, Ortiz worked with Kenny Scharf, Richard Hambleton, and others, leaving his mark on contemporary art. His work is featured in prestigious institutions such as the Whitney Museum, MOCA, the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
