Biography

Jin Shangyi, born in 1934 in Henan Province, is a pivotal figure in contemporary Chinese realism. Trained at Beijing’s Central Academy of Fine Arts, Jin’s work seamlessly merges classical European techniques with the cultural depth of China, positioning him as a master interpreter of tradition in a rapidly modernizing art world.

His portraits and still lifes, celebrated for their technical precision and emotional resonance, capture the quiet dignity of his subjects.
